At our January meeting, Steve Mullane talked to us about his experience photographing whales. Steve has studied whales off the coast of Maine for much of his adult like. Graduating from the College of the Atlantic is 1981, he pursued his interest in cetacean life by joining the Whales Watch program of Allied Whale. Stationed for four years on Mount Desert Rock, he conducted marine mammal, seabird, and migratory bird studies.
Steve’s photographs have been featured in books and magazines and he has contributed to the North Atlantic right whale, the finback whale, and the humpback whale research catalogs. He also published a book titled “Discovering Whales of the East Coast” that contains many of his spectacular photographs and a lot of information about whales!
