Picnic at the Pond

Greetings MDI Photo Club!  It is almost that time of year again!  Our annual picnic is planned for Friday, August 16th  at Donna’s camp on Long Pond this year.  Spouses and significent others are invited as well as members.  We have set a rain date for Saturday the 17th so stay tuned.  The festivities will begin at 5pm and for those that are interested there will be an optional full moonrise visible from nearby Beech Hill and Beech Cliff around 8:30pm.  
 
We will provide burgers and hot dogs and request attendees bring salads, sides, desserts, beverages and such.  Also bring a camp chair if you have one as seating is somewhat limited.  
 
Donna’s camp is located off Vista Way in the town of Mt. Desert.  Coming from Somesville, go west on Pretty Marsh Road by the Somesville Fire Station, then left on Beech Hill Road, right on Ripples Road and Vista Way will be the second drive on the left.  A short way down Vista Way is Great Pond Way.  There is a small parking lot on the left and a path leading down to the camp, about 1/4 mile easy walk.  Parking is best along Vista Way.  Parking is discouraged along Great Pond Way.
