Our March outing was on Saturday March 4th between 1 and 5 pm. This indoor “outing” was a cabin fever gathering to have fun taking pictures of each other. We met in the large room on the second floor of the Harbor House (329 Main Street in Southwest Harbor) where there is an entire wall of  north facing windows that provide beautiful natural light for portraits. With temperatures that morning starting in the single digits, and only climbing into the low teens, it was the perfect day for an “in-ing” outing.

George Soules taught an informal portrait workshop on lighting, working with a model, and what’s so great about the inverse square law. He set up a mini-studio with small flash and modifiers to demonstrate equipment and techniques for shooting with artificial light indoors.
